You know what always pissed me off? When people would say that characters in movies are "like someone they know", or a song is about a situation. That's not how it works. Reading through the Amazon reviews, many fairly good works get shitty reviews because the characters remind them too much of people they knew.

That is not how you determine how you like literature.
